How’s this for taking your relationship to the next level? Andy Godwin and Katy Eady decided to to do the unthinkable and kiss for as long as they could while skydiving.
The couple locked lips in June and the video recently went viral. In the video the couple is inside of a wind tunnel as they began to lock lips while they ascend up into the air. During the video you could see that spectators began to watch the couple put their affection on display. The couple was suspended on top of a 70 mph bed of air while they kissed for 32 minutes and 20 seconds. In the video you could see when they were lowered back down to the ground they had to catch their breath and stretch due to being in one position for so long.
The couple wanted to combine their love for one another and indoor skydiving. What a perfect combination! Godwin, who actually happens to be an instructor at the iFly indoor skydiving center in Milton Keynes where the kiss took place has been with his girlfriend for three months.
The maneuver looked easy on tape however, they said that it was one of the hardest things that they’ve ever done and Godwin said he doesn’t want to do it again as they both laughed.
The previous record was set back in 2014 by Terri Cass and Matt Lippert from Manchester. They put their affection for one another on display when they kissed for 31 minutes and 4 seconds while inside a wind tunnel blowing air at 110 mph.
The couple told the Daily Star that they felt like flying high on cloud nine and they were ecstatic that they broke the record. Their efforts were apart of International Kissing Day where couples at three Airkix indoor skydiving facilities competed for the top spot. The couple at the Basingstoke facility held on for 25 minutes and 43 seconds while the couple in Milton Keynes managed for 14 minutes and 30 seconds.
The record breaking couple also told the Daily Star that they would keep practicing to hang on to their title. Now that it’s three years later, looks like they’ll have to strap on their windsuits if they want to reclaim their number one spot.
Nowadays couples go to extreme and creative efforts to put their love on display. According to the Guinness Book of World Records the longest kiss has been set by a couple in Pattaya, Thailand. A hospital security guard Ekkachai Tiranarat, 44, and his wife 33-year-old Laksana displayed their love for a total of 58 hours, 35 minutes and 58 seconds, during a kissing marathon at Ripley’s Museum.
If you want to take a stab at breaking this world record here are the rules according to Guinness Book of World Records. The kiss must be continuous and the lips must be touching at all times.
Next, if the lips part then you’ll be immediately disqualified. The couple must be over the age of consent in the county of where the event is being held. The couple must stay awake at all times and you must stand during the attempt. The couple may not use any aids to help them stand such as a pillow, cushion or people. Unfortunately, no rest breaks are allowed and no adult pads are allowed. Lastly, no one must leave the venue.
