HYVE’s ICAROS goal is to offer a way for users to fly through digital adventures while exercising in a playful way. ICAROS turns gamers into athletes and makes every workout become a mind-blowing experience. The company calls it Active VR (virtual reality).

The ICAROS System offers what seems to be an exhilarating immersive experience. A participant can fly, dive, or race through a virtual reality setting of their choice. ICAROS combines exercise and virtual reality games into a fantastic experience!

You may be wondering at this point – “What is virtual reality gaming?” Virtual reality gaming is where a person can experience being in a 3-D setting and interact with that environment during a game. This is an essential part of the game.

Players can choose games depending on their physical abilities, and work up to more difficult settings to increase the exercise benefits. This most innovative of fitness machines can allow people a chance to experience activities such as skydiving, flying, or diving underwater, that they might never be able to do in reality.

ICAROS as a fitness virtual system is made up of the frame that holds the body, a controller, with sensors, virtual reality headgear, and the game itself. A user controls the system by moving their body to control the game, thus working out muscle groups such as abdominals, shoulders, and triceps.

It takes a certain amount of balance and strength to move the body in a way to simulate player movements in the game, thus improving concentration, balance and reflexes in addition to giving muscles a workout.

ICAROS is using virtual reality in a creative way to improve how people exercise, and to make exercise fun. Virtual reality through ICAROS will be making a lot of far-reaching or challenging activities very real for people from all walks of life.

ICAROS was presented at CES 2017 in early January. As with any new technology, or any new fitness machine, the expense of the ma line can prohibit immediate purchase of it by individuals, or even by smaller fitness clubs. As ICAROS gets out there however, perhaps into the nationwide sports clubs, costs will come down and become more inline with the home gyms that are offered today.

For parent company Hyve, ICAROS may become a model for THE exercise machine of the 21st century.

Taking the opportunity to try ICAROS could be the coolest thing you ever do, so if you have the chance, take it!
