Leap for Autism, an Autism Awareness fundraiser, is set to occur at 10 a.m. on April 22nd. The second iteration of this annual event will be held in Gardiner, New York at Skydive the Ranch which serves New York City and Ulster County, New York.
The event is hosted annually by Greystone Programs during April, the month that is designated for Autism Awareness.
Leap for Autism is a fundraising event, that is designed to raise money and awareness through skydiving. The skydivers will be campaigning for sponsorship and the proceeds of which will be donated to Greystone Programs.
Everyone is encouraged to participate in the event, even amateur skydivers. These novice jumpers can skydive with a Tandem skydiving professional. During these jumps, skydivers will be harnessed to an instructor for a safe and exhilarating experience. To participate, all Tandem Skydivers will need to be at least 18 years of age and weigh less than 225 pounds. In addition, waivers from Greystone and Skydive the Ranch will need to be signed and submitted on the day of the event.
This versatile fundraising event has something available for everyone who would like to attend; even if you are not jumping. For those who are faint of heart, you can support the event by joining other spectators at Skydive the Ranch. The ‘ground crew’ participants can enjoy all of the fun, music, and festivities safely on the ground while watching the skydivers as they free fall from high above.
The Greystone Programs are dedicated to serving those in the community who are affected by autism. This includes over 500 children, adults and their families in five counties in the Hudson Valley area. The programs offered by Greystone provide a way to directly enrich the lives of families with autism and other developmental disabilities. Activities offered to these groups include therapeutic expressive arts, such as music and dance.
All of the funds that are raised during the event on Saturday, April the 22nd will support the expressive arts program and other unfunded services that are offered by Greystone Programs. Although funding provided for the event is through the NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities, Greystone Programs enacts the vital services for the community and they will be the main proprietor of the event. Greystone Programs dedication to the cause is so great, they are willing to risk their lives by jumping out of an aircraft 14,000 feet above the ground, in an effort to raise money and awareness of a health issue that affects almost 22 million people.
Make a donation to Greystone Programs or sponsor one of their heroic skydivers, by going to https://www.givegab.com/nonprofits/greystone-programs/campaigns/take-a-leap-for-autism. All skydivers are required to reach at least $500 dollars to meet their fundraising goal. This amount will adequately cover the cost of their skydive and charitable donation.
The contingency plan for the fundraiser if the weather is poor on the scheduled day is to reschedule the event to April the 29th.
