Country music singer and superstar Carrie Underwood has proven to be more than just America’s crooning sweetheart, she’s an adventurer and bold thrill seeker as well. After leading fans and followers on an exciting and suspenseful ride by dropping clues on social media, Underwood made the leap from high above the clouds in the sparkling sunshine, bringing us along on the exhilarating plummet.
Underwood led up to the reveal of her big jump by posting a video on Instagram of herself and some of her crew singing a series of songs that gave not-so-subtle hints to what would be going on later that day. Her post, entitled “What are we doing today?”, started out with the star belting out the lyrics to John Denver’s “Leavin’ on a Jet Plane,” which was followed by The Pointer Sisters’ “Jump (For My Love)” and on to Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’.” Next up, we saw the successful singer looking a bit anxious to the tune of Chris Stapleton’s “Parachute,” which quickly gave way to pure excitement at that familiar line in Tim McGraw’s “Live Like You Were Dying” that we all love to sing at the top of our lungs. Yes, the one about skydiving.
Fans were then treated to pictures and video of the preparation, takeoff, the airplane exit and subsequent freefall, Underwood steering the canopy as she and her tandem instructor descended, and finally a joyful display of her certificate. It seems there’s no stopping Underwood. Not only was she just awarded Female Artist of the Year and Tour of the Year by the Rare Country Music Awards, she also proved that she is more adventurous and daring than most.
