Frequently Asked Questions about

Does the FAA regulate the USPA?

Although recognized by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), USPA (United States Parachute Association) is a self-regulated association. The USPA sets the standards for skydiving safety and training. All of our instructors possess instructional ratings recognized by the USPA.

How safe is skydiving?

Although there are obvious risks involved in skydiving, risks are greatly minimized by the level of instruction given to first-time skydivers, and no beginner ever jumps alone. Very few accidents have occurred in modern times.

Frequently Asked Questions about

What are landings like?

In skydiving, you want to strive for a soft stand-up landing. However, there is no guarantee that this will happen. Your ground instructors and jumpmasters will give you optimum instruction when it is time to land. You need to be in good physical condition so that if you do not have a stand-up landing, a harder or sliding landing won't hurt you.

Is there a weight limit?

For advanced training, modern canopies are available to support most people. Tandem Skydiving does have stricter weight limits as the canopy must support the weight of both the student and tandem master. Most locations cannot take tandem skydives with people weighing over 240 pounds. In some cases, a small fee may be added for new skydivers who weigh over 200lbs. For exact details on weight requirements at our network skydiving locations, please call at 1-800-617-7948 and one of our pros will be happy to assist you.

What does skydiving cost?

A number of factors can affect the cost of your skydiving experience. The skydiving method you choose makes the biggest difference. Tandem Skydiving is more affordable and safer while Accelerated Freefall puts the experience in your hands with more control and a solo skydive. Video or photos of your skydive also adds to the price as a professional skydiving videographer will jump with you to record your whole skydiving experience. Once you have completed the AFF course, the price for skydives drops tremendously for certified skydivers. Frequently Asked Questions about

What is Accelerated Free Fall Training?

Accelerated Free Fall (AFF) Training is the fastest method of becoming a certified skydiver. AFF is also the easiest way to learn with approximately 30-50 seconds of free fall on every jump under the careful guidance of our affiliate's expert skydiving instructors. Most training skydives are made from an altitude of 10,000 to 15,000 feet. AFF is less expensive, in the long run, and much more fun than the outdated static line training method.
