Give Skydiving.com a call today to get a glimpse of what a paratrooper feels like when they go head first out of an aircraft. Call 1-800-617-7948!
Tandem skydiving is the most popular form of skydiving. It is the easiest way to experience the thrill of soaring through the sky. Tandem skydiving, also known as Tandem parachuting, is the best and safest option for first-time skydivers who are excited about their first jump. Tandem instructors are just as excited to provide this one-of-a-kind experience for you. Here is how Tandem skydiving happens:
You will first meet your Tandem instructor. The Tandem instructor will give you a few pointers to remember while you are free falling. You will learn techniques for exiting the airplane and to deploy the canopy. Don’t worry, you won’t need to remember much, considering this is your first time. You will be in a harness that will be attached to your Tandem instructor, so that you can enjoy the dive while the Tandem instructor does majority of the work for you. Isn’t that nice of them to do all the work while you enjoy the ride? Don’t forget to thank them!
Tandem skydiving is one of three methods of skydiving. Another, less-used, method is called static line skydiving. Static line skydiving involves being attached to a long cord that stretches between the aircraft and the deployment bag the jumper is wearing. Static line skydiving is great for low-altitude jumps, such as 400 feet, but you’re looking for a bigger adrenaline rush than that. The static line method also has a higher risk of injury. That’s why Tandem skydiving is the first option for first-time jumpers. The Tandem method offers a full skydiving experience with no risk of injury. Your safety is always a number one priority. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) makes it mandatory for all skydiving instructors to have at least three years of skydiving experience and the completion of 500 successful jumps. Trust us when we say you are in great hands.
When you Tandem skydive with Skydiving.com, you will be exiting the airplane at approximately 14,000 feet, the standard height for Tandem skydives. Once you and your Tandem instructor exit the airplane, you will free fall at speeds up to 120 miles per hours for 30 to 60 seconds. Once you get to the desired altitude, your Tandem instructor will deploy the parachute, dramatically bringing your free fall to a much slower pace. The canopy ride back to the ground lasts for about four to five minutes. During this time, you and your Tandem instructor can share a casual conversation. You can even share your darkest secrets since no one else will hear them. These Tandem instructors are as great at keeping secrets as they are at skydiving. The excitement of completing your first Tandem skydive will hit immediately. You will most likely want to go again.
You can come back and Tandem skydive as many times as you would like. We understand that it may take a few Tandem jumps before building the confidence to go to the next level of skydiving, which is Accelerated Free Fall training.
Congrats! You’ve completed your first Tandem skydive. Now, you’re wondering what’s next? You are pumped up and ready to go again. The next step is becoming a certified solo skydiver. Take the next step and receive your “A” License to be able to skydive solo anywhere in the country. Become a part of a growing sport in CA. You can choose between two methods of turning you into a United States Parachute Association (USPA) certified skydiver. All of the skydiving instructors are certified with the USPA. Being a certified skydiver with at least an “A” license allows you the freedom to skydive anywhere with USPA-approved drop zones. All of Skydiving.com’s partner drop zones are USPA-approved, so don’t hesitate to become the skydiver you have always wanted to be.
Accelerated Free Fall training is the most commonly used method to train skydivers for their certification. It is more in-depth than Tandem skydiving and is a hands-on training experience that gradually puts you in complete control of your skydive. During the Accelerated Free Fall training courses, you will learn different Target Learning Objects, or TLOs, for short. These are the techniques and procedures that you must master to become a certified skydiver.
First things first. When you enroll into the Accelerated Free Fall training course, the first thing you will learn about is safety. Your instructors will have a classroom style session to introduce you to the proper safety steps to make sure each dive is successful. You will learn how to properly deploy your own parachute, the “dos” and “don’ts” of skydiving, and hand signals to communicate while free falling. Once that classroom session is over, it’s time for your first dive toward becoming a certified skydiver.
During your first dive, you and two instructors — or maybe three — will jump. Unlike Tandem skydiving, you will not be attached to an instructor. Instead, one instructor will hold onto you by your harness to ensure that you can stabilize yourself while in the air. The other instructor watches and communicates the task you need to complete to progress through the training. You will begin your dive from 10,000 to 15,000, which is the standard range for Accelerated Free Fall training. After you complete your first skydive, the instructors will let you know if there are some things that you need to improve or if you are ready for the next step.
The next step in Accelerated Free Fall training is learning how to move and change body positions while free falling. Things can get a little tricky at this point, but you have nothing to worry about. These skydiving instructors are the best and will make sure you develop the proper skills and techniques needed to fly with style and grace. You will first practice making 90-degree turns and maneuvers. Once you have those mastered, you will move on to learning how to perform 360-degree maneuvers. After a few skydives as a student and demonstrating the skills and techniques to your instructor’s satisfaction, you will then be eligible to receive your “A” class skydiving license to skydive at your leisure.
Tandem progression is a less-popular method of becoming a certified skydiver, but still effective. The Tandem Progression method takes a little more time to complete. It is a great way to learn for those who would like to ease into skydiving. Tandem Progression training requires students to complete three Tandem skydives before moving on to the Accelerated Free Fall training. The Tandem Progression method is still a great way to become a certified skydiver. If you feel that starting off in Accelerated Free Fall training is too fast for you, the Tandem Progression method is an alternate way to get your skydiving certification.

Many people would agree that skydiving is one of the most extreme things a person can do. Wouldn’t you want to show your experience to every one you can? You can have a video to relive the magical moment of your first skydive. Now you can have video packages so you can document your skydiving journey. Your friends and family would enjoy seeing you flying high. We have two different styles of shooting your video: Choose from our GoPro video package or the Videographer video package.
The GoPro video package captures the experience in a first-person view. Show your friends what you saw when you were thousands of feet in the air. If you are looking for something a little more extravagant, the Videographer video package is for you.
With the Videographer video package, you’ll have a professional videographer along with you to record every step of your skydiving experience. From the moment you arrive to one of the partner facilities, the videographer will have the camera rolling to capture all the little moments that lead to you big jump, including suiting up, boarding the plane and the climb to the perfect altitude. The best part of having a videographer is that you can show off all your moves to friends and family in a high-quality video. The video will be edited on site, so you don’t have to wait to share it.
